My teacher wants to sell his Saab 900 convertible. I probably shouldn’t place a bid on it for various reasons.

A teacher with a Saab whoda thunk it

it’s so beautifully cliche

The important questions are: does it have the Night Panel? And does it have 3 spoke wheels?

Just say no to GM 900s

Very cliché. He owns an orange 96 and other more modern Saabs.

Yes on the three spoke wheels. Didn’t all post GM come with the night panel? Anyhow, that’s one of the best features I’ve ever seen on a car.

He says the thing is faulty and creaky and horribly GM. I’m still intrigued.

woman who lived downstairs from me at my last apartment complex had one of that generation. Absolute money pit for her. Check Engine light that couldn’t be solved, myriad electrical issues, convertible top shit the bed once or twice, and dissolving plastic trim.

It’s hard because it’s still a Saab, though with Vectra organs.

I thought so too, but Wikipedia states it only came on some trim levels, though as always, that is to be taken with a grain of salt.
Yes, absolutely a great feature, quite gimmick-y, but still a cool gesture to SAABs past.

It only shared a third of the parts, much to the Detroit Giant’s dismay.

..but then again a friend of mine bought a working 900 with 300k km on it for scrap money and daily drove it without much maintenance for three years.
They’re not bad and will run, but with a few issues here and there.

Best teacher confirmed.

Damb you. Now I really want to make him an offer. I’ve always wanted a Saab and this is the chance. Hm..

They can’t be that expensive in Germany? And you’ll have no problems getting parts for it because of both Opel link and enthusiasts.

Ouch. That’s what to be expected from a GM Saab I’m afraid. Still want one.

He is quite cool and his choice of cars confirms that. His Saab 96 is his daily driver in summertimes.

Yes, yes you should. These are very nice cars. Assuming it’s the turbo 4 that engine is just cool.

Nope. Plenty of Vectra parts and mods available. Now the old Saab 900s have become expensive, even the shitty ones.

I hope it is. I really do.
